Civilization on Course

“Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to . . . to show the Capitol they don’t own me. That I’m more than just a piece in their Games,”
– Peeta Mellark

Like the air we breathe, knowledge is all around us. Without knowledge, we would be living in void unable to know what is what leaving us unexisting. Like water, we could touch but we cannot hold. Still, like water it comes in volume that’s enough to keep us alive. Like air and water, knowledge is what we also need to keep us alive and going.

Like fire, too much of it would conjure unstability of idealism that could bring forth destruction of oneself. But there is enough to keep us warm and able. Like earth, it is there to keep us steady reminding us not to soar too much high for we would lose the support we have.

Knowledge has to be in balance.

As a human being we must not be too greedy to take all the knowledge in the world. It is specially designed for us to know what we are only allowed to know. Those people who tries to seek more than what’s meant to them end up in disastrous ways. Greed of knowledge is different from confound knowledge. We are maybe to know, but not to know it all.

The knowledge present is more than enough for us to fully establish ourselves. We already posses enough knowledge to keep us going and existing. We must use this knowledge to fulfil the mission that was meant for us to execute.

In this world full of uncertainties, people have a habit of fitting in. We try so hard to please others. As we try to “socialize” we sometimes tend to forget our true personalities. We are absorbed in their philosophical ideas that we neglect ours. We have to re-establish ourselves and not to lose grasp on the truth that’s right in front of our very eyes.

Society is where we try to make up with others to fill in our shortcomings. As we try to socialize, we absorb many ideas and knowledge. These ideas are useful to build our own philosophy. We gain experience that we could use and could uphold our stand to the top.

For each society to be strong, they need to establish a force that would hold them together. They need justice alongside with them. Justice is the driving mechanism that dictates the norms of the society. It provides sufficient laws and regulations that serve as a guideline for it to meet its goal.

In a society that has long been battered with shortcomings, devastated by unforeseen events that brought chaos and confusion, people seek for something that would save them from disintegration.

As a part of this society, an individual has honed his own ideas and ideals that could amend the future. A philosophy that could be of good use to the society he lives in. knowledge that would come in handy when the time comes. We take part of this society and every one of us is an essential specimen that could either make or break our unison.

Individuality. It is what keeps us unique. Everyone is ought to different things. We are specifically made to obtain a certain task and endure all the hardship. We are also given companions where we could generate hope to fulfil our becoming.

This world is full of games. Those who have money and power are able to manipulate us. The mass who were in poverty suffers the most. The manipulative effect may not be the will of those who are in power but society has long dictated it. The power of the mass is too gigantic that it is able to bend one’s will.

We might not be aware but those people around us have the most effect. Through continuous exposure to their ideas, we are honed to be like them. And in a way or two, it results to distress.

See how the regimen of Pres. Marcos runs down because of the people around him. His ideas were incredible and really brought progress to the Philippines. The actions of the people around him dictated his fall.

As an individual who has the capacity to express myself, who I know deep within I can do something that would upheld and brought justice to the country,  these eyes of mine who have witnessed the cruelty of life, these ears who heard the mourn and cries of the helpless, I know I can do something.

And I know it is not only me who has the ability to do so. Every person has knowledge. It is a gift that we must use to raise our country from the deprivation of honor it suffers from.

I, you, we have the knowledge that is essential for the betterment of the future. Future is only a step ahead. Success is a step ahead. If only we take courage to stand up for the truth. If we only stand up for what is right. If we only stand up for those who have sacrificed so much. Our philosophy can uphold this country.

We must not be the pieces of life’s game. We must play life but not lose control to the desires that root from evil. We have only one lifetime. We must not waste the chance that has been given to us. Like fire, earth , air and water, we are also the elements of this world of this society that has to maintain the balance of life.

We are the medium. And we must do our part well.
